June 15, 2013

Its been awhile (again)

So once again I got way behind, I know, I am not good at this.  So once again I am just going to list some highlights by month, starting with December which is really the last time I posted (not counting the blurb about Lisa's shower decor)

December
  • had a great holiday with the family!  lisa had to work on christmas day so we did our family christmas on christmas eve and then on christmas day mom, eric and shawn came over to play with logan and his new gifts.  he got a cool kitchen and shopping cart from santa and a radio flyer trike from grandpa dave and renee
  • we had lisa's shower for nora (you know all about that)
  • when i had my 20 week ultrasound we found out i had placenta previa, so i had to go back on the 28th of december for a follow up ultrasound to see if it had cleared, luckily it had, but either way we knew i was still going to have another c-section
  • it was just a busy month with lisa getting ready for nora and me getting ready for lisa's shower and ignoring the fact that i should be getting ready for amelia

January
  • lots of getting ready for babies going on, i finally decided on a color scheme for the nursery (this was quite an ordeal as i have a hard time making a decision and then if i dont act on it quickly i change my mind)
  • Nora joined us on the 31st after a long couple days for lisa and shawn. she was not as big as they expected but was still a good size (close to 9 lbs) and was just beautiful
  • i think it was in this month that we picked a date for amelia to join us, c-section scheduled for 3/13/13 at 12noon!!

February
  • it was lots of nora visits, it was great that logan was able to see her during the day but not have her around all the time, gave him a bit to get ready for amelia
  • he LOVED nora from the start, he is sometimes a bit too rough with her (still is) but he loves that little girl
  • logan went to 2 birthday parties, he did pretty good!!
March
  • it was the home stretch before amelia arrived so logan and i crammed in as many appointments and fun things as possible
  • he went to the dentist for the first time (did not go well), i went to like a million doctor appointments, we went to the austin zoo, we went to the austin childrens museum (with only 5 days left in the pregnancy, i was huge and was so ready to leave), and we visited lots of parks before it got too hot
  • on 3/13/13 at 12:20pm Miss Amelia Grace was welcomed to this world!!  She was 8 lbs and 14 oz, 21.5 inches long and had a head full of black hair.  she looks so much like her brother (just a bit smaller, he was 10 lbs 2 oz and 22 inches), and was just a joy from day one!!
  • ill do a different post on her, since i have 3 months of bear pictures to post and to talk about her hospital stay and all, it will be the next few posts, i promise!!
  • we had some visitors, shawns family came to meet nora the week we got home from the hospital and then when they left dad, ana and niko came to meet both girls.  it was great seeing them and logan loved all the attention that he got from them.  he did so good, he let them take him to wazoos without me!!!
  • we also celebrated moms and ians birthday.  march and april are busy birthday months for our family.  in march we not only have mom and ian but we have aunt mel, sue, had grandma lach, and now we have amelia too.
  • had a nice family day on easter to chill and take lots of pictures of our 2 newest arrivals
April
  • with logan only having 2 months until he turned 3 and with amelia here, a lot of focus went into getting the most out of his therapy with ECI before it stopped.  its a government program (early childhood intervention) that you have to qualify for due to a developmental delay (in his case speech being the biggest issue), but when he turns 3 he is no longer eligible.   we upped the visits with emily (his main therapist) and brought in a second one too (becky) so they started focusing on more than just speech, also development his fine and gross motor skills.  he loved them both and he got a full hour of attention and play, so he was always excited when i said they were coming, he would watch out the window for them.
  • we celebrated my birthday (is it sad that i have no clue what we did) and otherwise just adjusted to living on little sleep due to a newborn and dealing with some new temper tantrums courtesy of logan
May
  •  took logan to get evaluated for a program through the school district.  its called PPCD (preschool program for children with disabilities), he did pretty good at the evaluation, had a few moments where he got a bit scared or didnt want to focus, but generally did really well.  it was decided that he did quality for the program so once the school year starts back up after the summer (aug 28) he will go to school 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, with the PPCD class.  I think it will be great for him, he will also get a meal there so hopefully he will eat at least one actual meal a day since he doesnt for us.  come to think of it, i might do a whole post just on logan.
  • starting planning logan's 3rd birthday party!!!
  • did my 1st wedding as a private wedding coordinator!  it was a client i actually booked at lakeway but she hired me to be her coordinator once i left the hotel.  ian was my assistant and said he would never do it again, but he did well, it was just more work than he thought and i think he was pretty nervous about possibly messing up their ceremony ;)
June
  • this brings us to june (woo hoo)
  • it is freakin hot already, we have been going to the pool every tuesday with lisa and shawn (shawn is great with logan and is teaching him to not be afraid in the water) and logan is loving it.  typically one of the girls is always asleep, but we still bring them and try to get them in the pool
  • dave, renee, grandma and sara came to visit for eric's high school graduation (can you believe it) and for logans 3rd birthday (his party will have its own post)
  • on the 25th we will celebrate erics 18th birthday, his gift to himself is a tattoo (cant get one in texas under that age, even with parental consent)
  • logan is loving the alphabet and always has letters scattered all over the house and we must recite it about a billion times a day, its super fun
  • both the girls are just getting so big and really starting to talk and do more, so its fun, and logan still loves them to pieces :)
Well, that i think covers it all, I really have no clue anymore.  I will do a few posts just about Amelia, one for Logan's therapy and progress, and of course one for his birthday party!!
