how did we ever survive....

....before cell phones. Yes, you all knew the end of that sentance without me finishing it (then again it could have been about remote controls, or laptops, or indoor plumbing, or tv, or air conditioning, or cherry coke zero), but its about cell phones!

During college I had a great little purple cell phone, I loved it!! I used it for like 3+ years until the screen was getting bubbly and honestly it was outdated. I didnt want to get rid of it, but it was time so I was sad, but I thought I would be able to find a new flashy phone that would fill the void. What I didnt think about was that after our move to Florida we decided to break ties with Verizon and give Sprint a try, and really, my life has never been the same :(

We managed to get on an awesome plan with sprint where we get loads of features for very little money, but have never really been too impressed with sprint as a company. They have not so great customer service and for the first couple months kept shutting off our phones the day they would bill us because our monthly bill was over the limit of our plan (or something stupid like that). But the main reason I dont like sprint (my views are much stronger than Ians) are because they have horrible phone selectiosn for women. If you are a teenage girl and want a fun bright pink phone, they are your carrier. If you are a techy or business man and want a big ugly phone that serves a purpose, they are your carrier. If you want a phone that looks nice and works as an actual phone but also has some extra features but doesnt weight like 5 pounds, you are out of luck!

Anyway, I have not really liked my past few phones, and after getting a blackberry for work I really wanted one for home that had a full keyboard and was easy to use for internet, gps, etc. Ian had the original HTC Touch Pro, so we got me the Touch Pro 2, well, needless to say I HATED that phone. It was slow, didnt recognize when I was touching the screen, touching the buttons, didnt easily alert you to when you missed a call or had a voicmeail, basically the calling feature was not very important to that phone, but it is to me. It was certainly and upgrade but I just didnt like it and complained all the time!! Ian had gotten a newer phone a few months back and kept showing me all the cool things and I was jealous and just hated my phone even more.

Yesterday on my way home I went to make a call and it kept telling me it couldnt verify my phone. I had just had a not so great day at work and was super annoyed, and that just compounded my annoyance. So I get home and start compalining again and then Ian whipped out his phone (Samsung Epic 4) to show me once again how cool it was (which I was not humored by) to then whip out another identical phone. He got me a new phone yesterday so I would stop complaining!!!

Now I have to learn how to use it, but I was happy and thought it was very nice of him. Now lets hope this phone works or else I think Ian might kill me....

Snow Day!

Cant think of the last time I got a snow day, and while I didnt take a true one, I did work from home so I got to spend the day in my warm PJs at home with Logan. Since most of the state was shutdown I only got 5 emails and 3 phone calls and didnt have too much work I had to do, so it was nice.

For everyone up north that is laughing because 1 inch of snow shut us down, we just are not equipped to handle 1 inch. Nobody have ice scrapers, our wiper fluid freezes, we have no plows, no salt, people dont know how to drive (not everyone has driven in the winter before) so highways get shut down, streets get blocked off, by 7am there was already over 100 accidents. I didnt want to take Logan out in that, so I didnt!

This was actually the night before the big freeze, it was just so cold out so Logan stayed nice and warm in his bear outfit, he actually slept in it for 3 nights. Ian took this picture because he said the bear was hibernating :)

even jaska used the snow day to just chill and relax inside. i think calling her a siberian husky is a cruel joke, she doesnt like being outside in the cold at all!

Fridays

I very much dislike Fridays. I know that is not quite the norm, but that’s how it is. Here are a few reasons I don’t like Fridays:

1) Everybody forgets how to drive on Fridays
2) Everybody remembers its Friday and then they feel they must call me panicked because of something they forgot during the week, even if there is no need to panic yet
3) Everybody decides they can leave work early or during lunch and stop into the resort without an appointment to see the place for a wedding
4) Everybody forgets that this is also Friday so I have a wedding the next day that needs my help
5) Everybody forgets at 4pm or 5pm or 6pm or 7pm when they decide to hold their rehearsal that while they got to leave work early and arrive here 15 to 45 minutes late and stand around to chit chat all before starting that I am just standing there in the ballroom waiting so that I can go home and try and sleep before my 12 to 14 hour day on my feet in heels that will be coming just after the sun rises in the morning.
6) Everybody takes their time getting into work (see #1), chills and relaxes all morning and then at like 3pm tries to cram a whole day of work into a few hours (see #2) and then emails and call me towards the end of the day (see #s 4 and 5) expecting answers ASAP
7) Everybody calls between 3pm and 7pm trying to schedule appointments to see the property on Saturday
8) Its not my Friday, its really my Thursday, and who really likes Thursday anyway!!!!

7 Months Old!!

You hear it all the time, but once again, I am little behind on this post. Logan turned 7 months old 10 days ago, but I did at least take the pictures on time, so thats good, right?

Fun Facts for Logan:

• he reaches for every possible thing that he can try to reach
• he still hates being on his belly, unless he is asleep on mine
• he has no desire to crawl, still
• he loves to sit up and stand up (with assistance of course, he is a little wobbly)
• he does not at all like green vegetables, especially peas
  
• he loves to laugh, what gets him is making funny faces, making funny noise and raspberries on his belly
• he has 6 teeth, thats right, 6 freakin teeth!! (im trying to get a picture, he doesnt like that)
• he freaks out when he sees his bottle or when you put a bib on him, so no bibs can be used for drool
• he loves the dogs (all 3 of them) and they love him, its super cute
• hmm, thats all i can think of now....
  

New Years Eve

Again, Im a little behind, but really, I shouldnt have to say that, you all should know that about me by now :) So for new years I was actually awake, it was quite exciting! Dad, Ana and Niko came down for a few days so that was great to see them again and for Niko to meet Logan and for Dad and Ana to spend more time with him. He is certainly quite different than he was in June!

On NYE we really didnt do much, we sat around the house and ate shrimp and played games and watched some crazy game show and just chilled, but it was a nice evening either way!

The dogs are not allowed on the couches, and they know it, but I guess Annie realized Niko didnt know that and just took advantage. It was a couple of minutes until I realized it, so she got to lounge for awhile, she is such a funny girl!


I got a bakers torch for christmas, so I decided to make creme brulees for NYE. Let me just say, a freakin vanilla bean (thats right, just 1 bean) is like $12, its highway robbery, but they were good and they were fun to make. This picture is of Lisa bruleeing her creme :)


Just playing around with my new camera, my new torch (from my "secret" santa sara) and my new crate and barrel ramekins that I got with my christmas gift card from dave!

Marcie right after the ball dropped (well, really an hour later since we are in texas). She was really living it up and even drinking some champagne (which she liked). Annie we discovered is more of a beer drinker and Jaska is just like her dad and doesnt drink anything. Maybe we need to give her a mudslide or a girly drink like a blue hawaiian, I bet she would like those :)

Christmas

These are actually from earlier in the month, I decided to bake cupcakes for the staff at work for helping me with all my holiday parties and for being covered in glitter for a whole month :)

We had our 1st annual cookie decorating contest (the votes were submitted via facebook). Me, Mom, Lisa, Sara & Eric all made cookies. Sara and I tied for the win, Eric came in 2nd, due to his party cookie.

Animals (of all sorts)

I thought I would give everyone a break from Logan and talk about our four legged friends for awhile. With the new camera we have gotten some great pictures, I freakin love this camera!!




As you might have noticed the puppies are no longer puppies, they really are old little ladies. Annie is getting lots of gray hairs and Jaska is getting technically older but isnt really showing it much. They love to protect Logan and still love to get treats and follow poor Mom around all day demanding more rawhide sticks (because she is a sucker and gives in to them). They are going to the vet on Tuesday for a teeth cleaning, checkup, vaccinations and nail trimming, so they will not be too happy after that, but believe me, we will be to have some fresh breath on those dogs (for at least a few days).

As for our hamsters, we are down to one (Pixel) an offspring of Phebs & Daisy. We kept Phebs & Pixel but we lost Phebs to the "Rainbow Bridge" for hamsters over a month ago. To be honest, we are really kinda ignoring Pixel, so if anyone in the Austin area wants a female robo hamster let me know!!


Our neighborhood has lots of deer, we are surrounding by greenbelt so they are always around but never really out in the open HOWEVER I think they like Christmas lights. Ever since the lights have gone up on peoples houses (including ours) they are in front yards snacking on the grass. We had one showing up every night when I got home, but one night I managed to turn onto the street without scaring it, so I called Ian and he got a few pictures from between the blinds from the loft. They arent the best photo quality, but its a deer in my front yard, how awesome!!
