Wow, that post about the food (and idea) for her party got super long, so I decided to do a separate post about the decor. If you didn't see it just go back 1 post. This one will be much shorter, as the food was really the focal point of her party, but I still made some cute things that I don't want to leave out.
Her custom designed invite from Etsy seller simplyprintables - she was
great and I think this invite turned out so stinking cute!!!
You probably recognize this from other parties I have done, but I am a
sucker for streamers over my window, I love it!! I put these up like a
week early and took like a full week before I took them down, they just
make me happy :) Pretty pastels for my little girl!
I found a party line at Hobby Lobby that was cupcakes, pastels and for a
first birthday, it was great! They had all sorts of stuff to go with
it but all I got was a pack of 10 decorations that I used to just
supplement what I made. There were 2 of each design, I thought the big
cupcakes with "one" written on it was great for the front door!!
My awesome picture banner!! I think this was my favorite part of her birthday party! I mean I love a good picture banner, I love looking at Logan's and so does he, but hers was just awesome. Since her party theme was really just colors I decided to have fun with colors and patterns, all sorts of different combos of polka dots and chevron, it was just right up my alley. In face I loved this one so much I decided I was going to open my own Etsy shop and sell these (along with some other stuff too). As you can see I used some of the hobby lobby decorations on either side of the banner just to tie everything back together.
This was the biggest disappointment of the party to me. I liked how the banner turned out, which is good cause it took way longer than anticipated, but the plan was to put it in front of the streamers over the window, and when I tried on party day it just looked horrible!!! But then I had no other idea of where to put it, I was so frustrated. At the last minute I threw it up over the cabinets but seriously I was doing this as people were basically arriving, it was a rush job for sure. The banner itself was made with 2 pieces of felt that were glued together, then I painted each letter on it, and then hot glued it to the string (when I discovered that a whole puncher can not pierce 2 pieces of felt). This is another item I am going to sell on Etsy, but I need to take a better picture since this one looks like crap :(
So this isn't so much decor as food/decor/entertainment for the party, but its gonna go with decor, just roll with it. I saw on pinterest where you make necklaces out of froot loops, and I thought it was PERFECT for her party and holy crap was I right!!! The girls loved it, as you can clearly see, I don't think Nora left that table the entire party (I think they liked it more for the cereal than the necklace making part, Amelia never even made a necklace). However, we learned that for little girls in white dresses its not a smart idea to actual put the necklace on cause when the froot loops get wet, they leave a nice purple mark on your pretty dress, sorry Nora :( I love in the 2nd picture how you can see Amelia's cheeks all puffed up, she was filling those suckers with froot loops just like a little squirrel!! Oh I love that girl, at least I know she had a good time at her party :)
