Radio Commercials

Typically I just kinda block out radio commercials, which Im guessing is not something very unusal. However, there have been a few recently that have really caught my attention and to be honest are really pissing me off.

Commercial #1: This one has actually been playing for a few months, its always kinda annoyed me but the more I hear it the more it bothers me plus now that there are other ones that bug me it just got worse. I am not 100% what the commercial is exactly for, but the general point is spending time with your kids. The main point is that instead of driving your kids to school or having them ride the bus you should walk with or bike with your kids. It will give you the chance to spend more time with them and also treat them the rules of the road. I have no problem with that, what gets me is the final line of the commercial which says "dont have time, maybe you dont have time not too". So what really annoys me is that a lot of parents have to work and probably already feel bad about it or just wish that wasnt the case, so why do they have to play a commercial making them feel even worse about it making them feel that because they cant or dont find the time to walk with their kids to school.

Commercial #2: Dr. Pepper 10 - I am a fan of Dr. Pepper however I HATE Diet Dr. Pepper so when I heard about Dr. Pepper 10 I was excited to try it and was very impressed with the taste. But then I heard the commercial and began to like it a little less. Now let me say I still drink it every now and then, and I dont want to, but I like Dr. Pepper! Anyway, the commercial is basically trying to push the drink to men, going on and on about how manly it is, blah blah. That is fine, do whatever you need, but again, they end the commercial by saying that the drink is not for women. Why in the world do they need to say that, the whole commercial is aimed towards men, you can get the point, why put a line at the end saying flat out "not for women". Why try to alienate over 50% of the population!!!

Commercial #3: Again, not 100% sure what this commercial is for, I think its just a state sponsored thing, but it is about motorcyle safety. To preface, I am all for people being safe when driving and being observant of all other drivers on the road. I would hate to get in an accident and know that I took someone's life because I was not paying attention. Having said that however, if you choose to ride a motorcycle I think you take on a risk. Nobody is holding you at gunpoint to drive a motorcycle, you have the option of driving in a car. Anyway, the commercial tells you that these are thank you letters from motorcycle drivers and they are basically thanking drivers for being extra observant of them. It says that they do not have air bags, they do not have safety features, they can be easily missed, etc. Again if you want to be safe than ride in a car, or at least when you are on a motorcycle wear a freakin helmet, dont drive like a crazy person, dont ride down the middle line to cut between cars, dont ride on the shoulder to avoid traffic. Now I know, not all motorcycle drivers do that, but the bottom line is, I shouldnt have to be extra super duper observant on the road watching for you, if you are that afraid of the risk than perhaps you should choose a safer vehicle.

There is a 4th commercial that annoys me, and it was fresh in my mind on the way home from work (it was the one I heard today that made me remember all these) but I can not think of it now. Anyway, you might not agree on my thoughts on these commercials, but they bug me and I just thought I would share.

On another note - congrats to William and Catherine, it was well worth waking up at 4am for!!!

He is getting soooo big!!!!



He gets pretty bad bed head when his hair is dirty, that is no mousse or gel, its au natural. And yes, he is chewing on a bottle of petroleum jelly, he likes to chew on the soft bottles, I'd rather he chew on that than my shoulder cause his little teeth hurt!


He can notice the smallest speck of food/dirt/bug/etc from miles away, even when it blends in with the counter top!

His new swimming dolphin toy, he likes it better as a chew toy than a swimming toy, but one day he will think its cool that it swims and flaps its little flipper :)

All clean, no more bed head!!!!!

10 Months Old!!!

First of all, you might be thinking, hmm, where are months 8 and 9. They are tucked away in folders on my hard drive and yes, I promise I will post them soon. But month 10 starts today and those photos are hot off the press and on my desktop, so they will get posted on the same day they were taken, which was right on time, GO ME!!

he is not very excited for picture time as you can tell :)


after only 3 pictures he was ready to go and explore and get off the chair!

Fun Facts:
**so these might seem odd since you have missed the fun facts for a few months, but just roll with it**

• he is finally crawling and is making up for any lost time, he is a fast little sucker
• he is pulling himself up on everything he can possibly find and getting better everyday at getting down without just plopping down on his butt
• he still hasnt said an official words, but the boy likes to chatter and is loud!!!
• he LOVES his dogs, he loves to pull on their ears, fur, play in their food & water, follow them around, play with their toys (only marcies since our dogs dont have any toys) and just laughs when he sees them
• he is getting better with a sippy cup (but only with the straw) and with finger foods (as long as they are big)
• he really likes the apple cinnamon oatmeal baby food (that smells just like apple pie filling so whats not to love)
• he is getting better about vegetables but mainly because they are now mixed with meat
• he loves bathtime but now wants to explore the bathroom and bathtub so thats been fun!
• his favorite thing in the house is our entertainment center (loves to pound on the glass doors)
• his favorite "toys" are remote controls, iPod touches, iPads, phones, laptops, keyboards, amd mice (computer ones of course)
• he has us all whipped!!!!! he is one lucky boy!!!!

Valentines Day

I happened to have a Monday off (which is rare) and Ian found out he was going to get Presidents day off, so he asked to take it early and the two of us spent Valentines Day together. We decided to take a day trip to Fredricksburg and just check it out cause we had heard it was kinda neat. We started doing some research and found out that there was an zoo of sorts in Johnson City (which Ian has always wanted to drive to) so us being the suckers we are we of course said we had to stop there on the way.

It was a neat place, we were the only ones there so first we started in the petting zoo with some giant sheep and a one goat that really liked me (and I was not so happy about that) and then we got on the trailer thing for our tour. It was really neat for $5 we got a 10lb bucket of food and the tour was probably about 30 to 45 minutes long and you could feed and pet any of the animals (except the emu, you couldnt pet him but that was ok). it was fun, and it was a beautiful day out so that made it even better. We also got the opportunity to use our new camera and really test the limits of it and let me just say if we had been using our traditional digital camera not one of these shots would have come out!

these llamas were hilarious, they were the biggest beggars of the group and I of course was a sucker and gave them more than I probably should have.

everytime you turned around there was always a huge group of animals chasing after you in search of extra food :)


the emu eating was the funniest thing, we tried to get a good picture of it but it was just too fast of a process, he would dig in really quickly and pull up leaving about 3/4 of his bite on the ground, he wasted a lot of my feed.



i was very excited about the zebras! these were the other animal you couldnt feed out of your hand (the emu was the other, the zebras would bite) but you could pet them. but to feed them you had to just drop some feed on the ground and they would pick it up. since you had to do that it was one of the few times the trailer actually stopped so you could be sure to pet them and get a few good photos.

so this camel is huge! you can see my hands to the left of the picture just to get an idea of the size of this thing. when it came to the camels they said to make sure you had your bucket hiding under the seats on the trailer or the camel would just take the entire bucket, so I had it under the seat but had it pulled out just a teeny tiny bit so I could reach in to get food. something made me turn around and in that split second this little fellow stole my bucket :( but he was a little sloppy about it and left a bunch on feed on the seats, and he was towards the end of the tour, so I was still able to continue getting food to the final animals.



After the "zoo" we went to Fredricksburg and did some shopping in its cute little main street (got some things for logan, things for the dogs, things for me and even something for lisa), than had a nice dinner sitting outside with a little old man band and then we were going to get some dessert but were just so full and so tired that we called it a night and Ian said he would owe me dessert. I just got my dessert on Sunday, but it was the yummy warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream from the cheesecake factory, so it was worth the month long wait :)

I am sad to said this blog post probably isnt worth the month long wait, but live with it :)

how did we ever survive....

....before cell phones. Yes, you all knew the end of that sentance without me finishing it (then again it could have been about remote controls, or laptops, or indoor plumbing, or tv, or air conditioning, or cherry coke zero), but its about cell phones!

During college I had a great little purple cell phone, I loved it!! I used it for like 3+ years until the screen was getting bubbly and honestly it was outdated. I didnt want to get rid of it, but it was time so I was sad, but I thought I would be able to find a new flashy phone that would fill the void. What I didnt think about was that after our move to Florida we decided to break ties with Verizon and give Sprint a try, and really, my life has never been the same :(

We managed to get on an awesome plan with sprint where we get loads of features for very little money, but have never really been too impressed with sprint as a company. They have not so great customer service and for the first couple months kept shutting off our phones the day they would bill us because our monthly bill was over the limit of our plan (or something stupid like that). But the main reason I dont like sprint (my views are much stronger than Ians) are because they have horrible phone selectiosn for women. If you are a teenage girl and want a fun bright pink phone, they are your carrier. If you are a techy or business man and want a big ugly phone that serves a purpose, they are your carrier. If you want a phone that looks nice and works as an actual phone but also has some extra features but doesnt weight like 5 pounds, you are out of luck!

Anyway, I have not really liked my past few phones, and after getting a blackberry for work I really wanted one for home that had a full keyboard and was easy to use for internet, gps, etc. Ian had the original HTC Touch Pro, so we got me the Touch Pro 2, well, needless to say I HATED that phone. It was slow, didnt recognize when I was touching the screen, touching the buttons, didnt easily alert you to when you missed a call or had a voicmeail, basically the calling feature was not very important to that phone, but it is to me. It was certainly and upgrade but I just didnt like it and complained all the time!! Ian had gotten a newer phone a few months back and kept showing me all the cool things and I was jealous and just hated my phone even more.

Yesterday on my way home I went to make a call and it kept telling me it couldnt verify my phone. I had just had a not so great day at work and was super annoyed, and that just compounded my annoyance. So I get home and start compalining again and then Ian whipped out his phone (Samsung Epic 4) to show me once again how cool it was (which I was not humored by) to then whip out another identical phone. He got me a new phone yesterday so I would stop complaining!!!

Now I have to learn how to use it, but I was happy and thought it was very nice of him. Now lets hope this phone works or else I think Ian might kill me....

Snow Day!

Cant think of the last time I got a snow day, and while I didnt take a true one, I did work from home so I got to spend the day in my warm PJs at home with Logan. Since most of the state was shutdown I only got 5 emails and 3 phone calls and didnt have too much work I had to do, so it was nice.

For everyone up north that is laughing because 1 inch of snow shut us down, we just are not equipped to handle 1 inch. Nobody have ice scrapers, our wiper fluid freezes, we have no plows, no salt, people dont know how to drive (not everyone has driven in the winter before) so highways get shut down, streets get blocked off, by 7am there was already over 100 accidents. I didnt want to take Logan out in that, so I didnt!

This was actually the night before the big freeze, it was just so cold out so Logan stayed nice and warm in his bear outfit, he actually slept in it for 3 nights. Ian took this picture because he said the bear was hibernating :)

this was after my car had been on for about 30 minutes when I was trying to figure out if I had to go into work or not, so it did have more snow covering in the morning

even jaska used the snow day to just chill and relax inside. i think calling her a siberian husky is a cruel joke, she doesnt like being outside in the cold at all!
